Tutorial: Drawing Goku
Step 1: The Foundation
Start off with the head, torso, and waist. The head is a circle with the lower half of the face added. The torso is usually relatively large, and wider than the waist. Draw everything very lightly so you can erase it later!
Step 2: Proportions
Sketch the basic shape of the arms and legs. Use cylinders for the arms, ovals for the legs, and circles for joints. This helps determine the proper length and size of the body parts.
Step 3: Details & Clothing
Draw clothing, hair, and muscles over your rough sketch. DBZ muscles are very big and round, almost like flesh-colored water balloons. Shade them to look like they protrude significantly.
Front View Proportions
Step 1: Facial Mapping
DBZ faces have large foreheads, slanted triangular eyes, and small lower faces. Divide the face into equal sections using horizontal guidelines to get the nose and mouth placement perfect.
Super Saiyajin Form
Adjustments for SSJ
To draw the Super Saiyajin form, the head and body should be wider, while the face itself is smaller. The lines of the face will be much more sharp and slanted, and the eyes much more narrow.
